Anwar Muhammad, who had been accused and convicted by a jury of shooting and injuring Shantoine Prinston Burrows in August 2010, has had his name cleared.

He spent 10 years in jail after being convicted in 2012 of attempted murder and using a firearm.  His conviction was quashed after the central item of forensic evidence against him was deemed unreliable.

The murder may still be deemed ‘solved’ by the Bermuda police as they charged Mr Muhammad. Read more here.

It appears the issues relate to Trinity DNA Solutions – which prompts questions such as, how was Trinity selected, what were the options, safeguards & costs. 07/05/2009 the Royal Gazette reportedLast week, the Police signed a $987,000, three-year contract with Florida-based Trinity DNA Solutions to create a DNA database for the Island. This will see samples from crime scenes old and new compared to samples taken from suspects who are arrested

 

Trinity appear to have ceased trading in 2018, though a basic/crude online presence remains here and a LinkedIn profile for Ms Zuleger conveys activity associated with Trinity and DNA since 2o21.
