Bermuda Murders

By mid 2024, Bermuda has seen 4 murders.  However, at of 07/07/2024, whilst the police are tight-lipped about a further 4 deaths, a report about the 4 deceased cites ‘murder’ in their post – read more here.

7 murders were recorded in just over 6 months, for a population of 65,000.  This equates to about 24 per 100,000 population, per annum – a figure substantially in excess of England and Wales where the homicide rate is approximately 1.2 per 100,000 people.  Figures indicate that the Baltic States (Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia) and Belarus have the highest murder rates in Europe, with Latvia 3.62 per 100,000 people.

By November 2024, the island’s murder total was 8.

‘In Bermuda, the murder detection rate is a significant area of concern. As of 2024, Bermuda has seen a rise in unsolved murder cases, with a total of 33 unsolved murders over the past two decades. This indicates challenges in resolving homicide cases effectively.’

05/2024 – Gun crime is of concern – read more here.

But a few days later, during a conference (@ 06:50 minutes) the BPS acknowledge the  07/07/2024 deaths, were ‘murders’ … though the constabulary then appear to back-track (@ 11:30 minutes into the conference) – the transcript can be read here.  11/07/2024, the deceased are named as:

      • 4-year-old Na-Vii Trimm-Parfitt
      • 9-year-old Drae-E Trimm-Parfitt

2012 Murder

the 2012 murder of Stefan Burgess and the attempted murder of Davano Brimmer saw a conviction in 2014 that, in 2024, was quashed.
