Where are the crime figures for 2023 and 2024? Can they really be that difficult to produce?
As for 2022, whilst offences recorded by police fell more than 8 per cent in 2022 compared with the previous year (believed to be due to Covid regulations, as opposed to policing), many areas saw troubling increases:
- Serious assaults up from 38 in 2021 to 49 in 2022
- Other assaults up from 398 in 2021 to 487 in 2022,
- Sexual assaults up from 43 in 2021 to 47 in 2022.
- Robberies up from 22 in 2021 to 26 in 2022
- Indecency offences up from 28 offences in 2021 to 36 in 2022.
- There was one manslaughter offence in 2022, while 2021 did not have any such offences.
Overall, crimes against the person were up by almost 20% … 114 in 2022, compared with 579 crimes the year before.
