With police numbers falling, the once reported 468 on the island needs replenishing. It is not simply because of retirements and resignations, the island has a high rates of ‘loss’ due to:
- long-term sickness (12)
- suspension (10)
That is about 5% of the workforce incapacitated. Moral may also have been affected by the current Commissioners threats against lower ranks.
